We are a place to experience the welcome, wisdom, and truth of Christ in downtown Houston.

The Oxford House Christian Study Center exists to cultivate Christian thought and life among the downtown Houston campuses by fostering intellectual inquiry, spiritual formation, creative expression, and hospitality. Grounded in the historic Christian faith, we seek to equip students, faculty, and community members to integrate their faith through academic pursuits, vocational callings, artistic endeavors, research, and cultural responsibility, thereby contributing to the flourishing of both the university and the wider world.

Mission

To cultivate Christian life and thought among the downtown Houston campuses, offering the welcome, wisdom, and truth of Christ.

Vision

To offer a Christian education for students and faculty among the downtown Houston campuses through theological education, hospitality, and spiritual formation in unity with the extended Christian community.

Programming Pillars

Theological Education

We offer opportunities for students and faculty to be transformed by the renewing of their mind as they consider the truth and integrity of the Christian faith. We direct a three-year curriculum (our Fellows program), seminars and reading groups, 1:1 mentorship, and public lectures/events.

Hospitality & Unity

We welcome guests to a place for study, rest, and friendship. We bring the downtown Houston campus communities together, especially among campus ministries and churches.

Spiritual Formation

We encourage students to pursue, embrace, and reflect the truth, goodness, and beauty of Jesus Christ in their daily lives. This usually happens through staff mentoring, leadership training, and regular conversations about hard questions.

Calling & Vocation

Students are growing into people who will be doing work in the world as part of God’s mission. We help students discern how to live out the gospel in the academy, workplace, and beyond.

The Arts

We support Christian artists through space, resources, community, and intentional programming to create work that explores Christian themes or perspectives.
